Beyond Heartbeats: Death

Updated: Jul 11, 2023

What is death? Is it the ending of a life or is it the point of sorrow? Should we consider it as a bad omen, or should we take it as the most miserable moment? For ages, we humans consider the end of human life as death. But is it that worst? Why can't we think of death with a positive mindset?

If we put light on the death of a living individual or the human race, then it's just the closing of the eyes and never opening them again. When a person leaves this world, he or she grants their memories to the left one and those memories become the survival support of someone.

Death is a sign that the purpose of someone's life has been completed and now a new life and a new purpose will be assigned to the soul.

In Bhagwat Geeta Lord Krishna explained the concept of the death of Arjuna while saying the following quoted words in Sanskrit:

na jaayate' mriyate' vaa kadaachin naayam bhuthva bhavithaa na bhooyah

ajo nithyah saasvato'yam puraano na hanyate' hanyamaane' sareere'

This means that The Spirit is neither born nor does die at any time. It does not come into being or cease to exist. It is unborn, eternal, permanent, and primeval. The Spirit is not destroyed when the body is destroyed.

In the same holy book, Lord Krishna said this in another verse to Arjuna while explaining the concept of death.

Lord Krishna said, and I quote:

Acche'dyo' yam adhaahyo' yam akle'dhyo' sya eva cha

nithyah sarva-gathah sthaanoor achalo' yam sanaathanah

This means that weapons do not cut this Spirit, fire does not burn it, water does not make it wet, and the wind does not make it dry. The Spirit cannot be cut, burned, wet, or dried. It is eternal, all-pervading, changeless, immovable, and primeval. Atma is beyond space and time.

Death is ambiguous. The concept of death is not only attached to the human race but to every existing substance on this planet. It is the rule of nature that something which has a commencement will face the end at some point in its lifetime.

Death is not just the end of life but it's the full stop to the sufferings, pain, and duties over someone. When one life is put to an end through death then only another life begins, and the cycle continues.

When we speak about the death of a person it's not the moment when he or she stops breathing but it's the moment when he or she stops feeling his or her existence. A human die when he stops trying or struggling to maintain his or her existence and when he gives up on the tough steps of his or her life.

The individual who fights to the height against his struggles and wins over the troubles of life is made to live even after his or her death.
